Michael “Mike” Jones is an associate in Elias Law Group's litigation practice where he specializes in voting rights and redistricting. 

Before joining ELG, Mike practiced commercial litigation at Bondurant, Mixson & Elmore in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2021, he was recognized by the National Black Lawyers as one of the Top 40 under 40 Black Lawyers in Georgia. Mike clerked for the Hon. Jill A. Pryor of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and for the Hon. Loretta C. Biggs of the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. He also spent a semester during law school as an extern to the Hon. James A. Wynn, Jr. of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.  

Before becoming an attorney, Mike was an aide to the late U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan of North Carolina and to U.S. Senator Chris Murphy while Senator Murphy served in the House. Mike directed the African American engagement program for President Barack Obama’s 2012 reelection campaign in the battleground state of Virginia, and in 2010, he managed the successful campaign of Connecticut State Representative Roland Lemar. Mike also worked on Hillary Clinton’s 2008 campaign in Nevada. 

Mike received his B.A. from Yale University. As an undergraduate, he was elected to represent Ward 1 on the New Haven, Connecticut Board of Aldermen. Mike is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law, where he received his J.D. with high honors, served as Executive Comments Editor of the North Carolina Law Review, and was selected to join both the Order of the Coif and the James E. and Carolyn B. Davis Society.  

Mike maintains an active pro bono practice. His pro bono work has included representing the NAACP Georgia State Conference in an Eighth Amendment conditions-of-confinement challenge and collaborating with the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund to help transgender Georgians access gender-affirming health care.
